COURTESY VISIT BY THE COMMISSIONER OF POLICE TO LAGOS STATE SECURITY TRUST FUND (LSSTF)

On the 23rd January, 2024, the Fund received a delegation from the Lagos State Police Command led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Fayoade Adejoke, during the Command’s courtesy visit to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) as part of a familiarization tour to agencies and security stakeholders in the State upon deployment as the CP, Lagos State.

During the visit, CP Fayoade expressed his profound gratitude to the Fund for its ongoing support to the Police Command and other security agencies in the State. The Commissioner noted how the security interventions and initiatives has enhanced security in the State and further boosted the morale of officers in the effective discharge of their duties.  He recalled how he was a beneficiary of the Fund’s initiative when he received an Award for Gallantry during one of the Fund’s Annual Town Hall Meeting on Security with the Governor and how the award encouraged him to do more. 

The CP subsequently pleaded with the Fund for more support as the Command had several pressing needs that require urgent attention. These include; the refurbishment of patrol vehicles, provision of aviation fuel to boost patrol for the Command’s helicopter, resuscitation of abandoned armored personnel carriers (APCs), life insurance coverage for police officers and recognition awards for outstanding officers, among other necessities.

In his response, the Executive Secretary/CEO of the Fund, Dr. Abdurrazaq Balogun once again welcomed the CP to Lagos State and reiterated the Fund’s commitment to its mandate of facilitating general security for the prosperity of all in the state.  The ES pointed out some of the proactive steps it is taking in ensuring the functionality of Police assets in the State, payment of life insurance to families of officers who loose their lives in the line of duty, reward for gallant officers, etc.  He further noted that the Fund will be focusing on training and retraining for officers in Y2024.

In addition, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan, a member of the Board of Trustees of LSSTF, present at the courtesy visit by the CP of Lagos urged police officers to take ownership of donated assets to ensure their extended and effective use on the road.  He also enjoined the CP to use his good offices to urge high net worth and well-meaning citizens/residents to contribute their quota to the Fund in our collective interest.

In conclusion, the Executive Secretary expressed appreciation to CP Fayoade and the entire team for their commitment to enhancing safety and security in Lagos State. He assured the Police Command of LSSTF’s unwavering support towards enhancing the activities of the Police.
