15th TOWNHALL MEETING ON SECURITY WITH THE GOVERNOR

The 15th Annual Town Hall Meeting on Security with the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu is an event organized by the Lagos State Security Trust Fund where residents and other Stakeholder in the Security frame work converge together to get a first-hand report on the state of security as well as a forum for fund raising towards improving the security situation in Lagos State. The Theme for the 2021 edition is ReconceptualizingSafety & Security in Lagos State.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday 22nd December noted in his address that 2021 was filled with traditional threats posed by cultism, street gangs, area boys, traffic robberies, Kidnapping, Land-grabbing, unruly transport operators, and the influx of persons from other parts of the country.

The Governor also recognized the very significant and sobering fact that some of our security personnel paid the supreme price in the line of duty and also acknowledgedand honored their sacrifice and assured that these sacrifices are not in vain. He reiterated his government’s determination to ensure the safety of all lives and property.

The Executive Secretary/CEO of the Fund, Dr. Abdurrazaq Balogun gave a report on the role of the Security Trust Fund in the last one year (December 2020 to November 2021). He said the Fund has continued to forge healthy relationships with security associations, Chambers of Commerce, market associations, and even embassies to seek opportunities of collaboration not just in donations but also in the development of policy and industry security framework/standards to improve the general security architecture in the state.

The Commissioner of Police Lagos Police Command, Mr. Hakeem Odumosu, on his part gave a report on the activities of his Command in the last year. He acknowledged that the command was privileged to have a Governor, who has an unmatched passion to create an enabling environment for the police and other agencies to fight crimes and criminalities head-on in the State. He also extended that the Command earnestly appreciates the Government and the good people of Lagos State for their continuous and unflinching support, which has momentously assisted the Command to record the modest feats highlighted in the course of the year. The Command is using this medium to implore all Lagosians, to continue to be law abiding, particularly, obey all traffic rules and regulations, including, traffic lights.

The Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, Mr. Kehinde Durosinmi-Ettiwelcomed and thanked the guest for their attendance. He said, “as the Chairman of the Fund, I cannot conclude my duty without informing you that there is a strong need for you to play your part by contributing to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund to ensure that our security agencies are fully equipped to respond to any security breach”.
