On 6 th September 2023, a delegation from the Nigeria Security & Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos Command led by State Commandant Usman Alfadarai paid a courtesy visit to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) office.
Comm. Alfadarai who was recently deployed as the State Commandant considered it necessary to pay a visit to the Fund as part of his familiarization tour to key security stakeholders in the State for collaboration towards the operation of an efficient security System.
The visit was also an opportunity to inform the Fund on the operations of the NSCDC, and its challenges as well as request more logistics and equipment for the operation of the Corps such as Patrol Vehicles, Motorcycles, etc. to improve its operations. The State Commandant also discussed recent initiatives and policy developments in the field.
At the meeting, the Executive Secretary/CEO of the Fund Dr Abdurrazaq Balogun briefed the team on the mandate of the Fund and its activities, noting that the Fund solely relies on voluntary donations to meet its mandate, and there has been a shortfall in donations that have hindered the Fund from providing as many interventions for the security agencies as required.
Dr. Balogun charged the Corps to do more at the grassroots level but however, commended it for its proactive roles in stemming the tide of insecurity in schools, protection of critical national assets and infrastructure; oil and gas pipelines, water, transport, power, communication and rail installations as enumerated by the Lagos State Commandant amongst others during the robust discussion.
The ES also suggested a familiarization visit to the State Control for collaborations with other security agencies already located there.
The CEO of the Fund mentioned that the Fund had supported the NSCDC in the past with patrol vehicles and assured the industry of the LSSTF’s continuous intervention as much as possible while also asking that the State Commandant use his good offices to encourage notable organizations and people in his network to make donations to the Fund towards the improvement of security for all.
